A Report On One Week Workshop
on
“SOLID WORKS”
The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a one-week workshop on “SolidWorks” with the support of APSSDC from 05-01-2026 to 09-01-2026 at Geethanjali Institute of Science and Technology.
The inaugural session was presided over by the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. N. Padmasravya. The gathering was addressed by the IIIC Head, Dr. P. Chakrapani, who emphasized the importance of industry-oriented skill development. The significance of the workshop was highlighted by the Director of GIST, Dr. G. Subbarao.
The main objective of the workshop was to create an effective learning platform for II Year Mechanical Engineering students to understand product design using the Solid Works software, thereby enhancing their knowledge and skills in creating 3D models.
During the workshop, students learned the fundamentals and practical applications of Solid Works, gaining hands-on experience in 3D part modeling, assembly design, and 2D drawing creation. They understood how to transform theoretical engineering concepts into precise digital models, apply constraints and dimensions, and follow proper design intent. The workshop also helped students develop skills in modifying designs, visualizing components, and preparing manufacturing-ready drawings. Overall, the program enhanced their technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and readiness to use CAD tools in academic projects and future industry roles.
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Singam Siva Sai Naveen, a trainer from APSSDC, who clearly explained each and every concept related to SolidWorks. The entire event was successfully s upervised by Mrs. G. Nilima.
Duration of workshop: 05-01-2026 to 09-01-2026
Number of Students Participated: 28
Workshop Coordinator: Mrs.G.Niima
Workshop Trainers: Mr.Singam Siva Sai Naveen
