A  Report On Guest Lecture on “Advances in Automotive Industry

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a one day  guest lecture  on    “Advances in Automotive Industry ”  on 23-12-2025.

The inaugural session was presided over by Mr. Y. Murali Krishna, a senior faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department, who outlined the event’s proceedings. Following this introduction, Vice Principal Dr. K. Sravan Kumar and Dean of Skill Development Dr. D. Swaroopa delivered motivational speeches to the students, highlighting the immense value of attending such guest lectures. The importance and practical application of the workshop were then further emphasized by Dr. N. Padma Sravya, the esteemed Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The primary objective of this guest lecture was to provide a high-quality learning platform for second- and third-year students, focusing on the latest advancements in the automotive industry. The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial reality by exploring the practical measures and real-time applications required to implement these modern technologies in the field.

The guest lecture featured Sri Saitheja Vemireddy, Team Lead of ADAS-ME at Cyient, Hyderabad, as the keynote speaker. Drawing from his extensive professional experience, he shared invaluable insights with the students regarding the diverse industrial applications and real-time implementations of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) provided a comprehensive analysis of how active safety technologies are revolutionizing the automotive industry in 2025. The session detailed how ADAS utilizes a sophisticated “sensor fusion” stack—integrating Cameras, Radar, and LiDAR—to eliminate human error, which remains the primary cause of road accidents. Key features discussed included Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), emphasizing their role as the building blocks for the transition from Level 2 driver assistance to Level 4 high automation as defined by SAE International. The speaker also addressed critical 2025 industry challenges, such as the need for robust cyber security to protect connected vehicles and the ongoing effort to improve sensor reliability in extreme weather. Ultimately, the lecture underscored that ADAS is no longer a premium luxury but a vital public safety standard, as highlighted by resources from the NHTSA, aimed at achieving a future of zero-fatality transportation.

The guest lecture on “Advances in Automotive Industry” was an informative and industry-oriented learning experience for the students. The interaction with Sri Saitheja Vemireddy provided valuable exposure to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and their real-time applications in modern vehicles. The session helped students understand the importance of emerging automotive technologies, safety systems, sensor integration and cybersecurity. Overall, the programme contributed to bridging the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements and encouraged students to strengthen their technical knowledge and prepare for emerging opportunities in the automotive sector.
