Report on “International Women’s DayBalance for Better

International women’s day celebrations were organized with much gaiety and fanfare at GIST on 08.03.2019. The theme of this year is “Balance for Better”. IWD (International Women’s Day”) defines this as “(a) gender-balanced boardroom, a gender-balanced government, gender-balanced media coverage, a gender-balance of employees, more gender-balance in wealth, gender-balanced sports coverage…” The event was conducted under women forum and NSS unit of GIST. All women staff both teaching and non-teaching participated in the event with zeal and enthusiasm.

Participating in the event Mr. N. Sudhakar Reddy, secretary, said that women could think more rationally and logically in the process of solving certain intractable problems and challenges afflicting the society. He cited the examples of Nirmala Sitaraman and Sushma Swaraj who are holding high positions in Government of India as Defence Minister and Foreign Minister respectively exhibiting outstanding caliber, character and competency in leading the country into the advanced league of nation’s.

Prof. T. Sreenivasulu Reddy, Divisional Engineer in Panchayath Raj taking part as the chief guest expressed his happiness that the society is gradually evolving from the concept of women’s emancipation to the concept of women empowerment. He rendered a song underlining the importance of women and enthralled the audience.

Mr. P. Sreenivasulu Reddy acquainted the audience with the dominant role given to women in ancient Indian culture and civilization. Dr.Y.Jahnavi, Dr.CH.Kalyani, Ms.K.Vijaya, Ms K. Radhika and women staff took part in the event. The event was concluded with a cake being cut to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
