Report on Value Added Course “Applied Python for Problem Solving”
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Value Added Course for II B.Tech (CSE) students on “Applied Python for Problem Solving” by Mr. D. Venkat Sai, Data Scientist, Neurocraft Innovations Private Limited, Hyderabad. The course was designed to provide students with practical knowledge of Python programming and its applications in solving real-world problems across various domains. Around 203 students of II B.Tech CSE-A,B,C section students actively participated in the value added course from 21-09-2025 to 28-09-2025. The session was well-received, and students appreciated the practical insights shared by the expert.
Objectives of the Course:
* To strengthen problem-solving and logical reasoning abilities using Python.
* To enable students to write efficient and optimized code.
* To demonstrate the application of Python in real-world problem domains such as data analysis, automation, and algorithm development.
* To prepare students for advanced areas like data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Course Content:
The sessions included both theory and hands-on practice covering the following topics:
- Introduction to Python: basics and environment setup
- Data types, operators, and expressions
- Conditional statements and looping constructs
- Functions and modular programming
- Data structures in Python: lists, tuples, sets, and dictionaries
- File handling, exceptions, and libraries
- Problem-solving strategies and algorithm design
- Application of Python in solving computational and real-world problems
- Case studies and mini projects
Mode of Delivery:
* The course was conducted through **online interactive sessions** using platforms such as [Google Meet/Zoom/MS Teams].
* Sessions included live demonstrations, coding practice, and doubt-solving discussions.
* Study materials, assignments, and coding exercises were shared through online learning management tools.
* Students actively participated in quizzes, problem-solving tasks, and project presentations.
Outcomes of the Course:
* Students gained hands-on programming experience in Python.
* Improved logical and analytical skills through continuous practice.
* Ability to design, implement, and test Python programs for problem-solving.
* Familiarity with applying Python in academic, research, and industry contexts.
The online Value Added Course on **“Problem Solving Skills in Python”** was highly beneficial for the participants. It provided a flexible learning environment and equipped students with essential programming skills required for their academic growth and future career opportunities. The department plans to organize more such online courses to keep students industry-ready in emerging technologies.
