Career Guidance Program
“Exploring Opportunities through GATE & JAM”
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Career Guidance Program on “Exploring Opportunities through GATE & JAM” on 22-09-2025. The session aimed at creating awareness among students about the significance of competitive examinations such as GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) and JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.), and the career opportunities they open up in higher education, research, and public sector undertakings.
The resource person, Dr. S T G Raghukanth, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras, highlighted the scope of pursuing postgraduate studies in reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and Central Universities through GATE and JAM. He also explained how qualifying in GATE can lead to:
- Admissions to M.Tech/M.E./Ph.D. programs.
- Opportunities for scholarships and assistantships.
- Placement prospects in PSUs like BHEL, ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, and others.
The session further guided students on preparation strategies, including syllabus coverage, study materials, practice tests, and time management. The importance of early preparation from II and III years of B. Tech was emphasized.
III CSE Students actively participated in the interaction session and clarified their doubts regarding eligibility, exam pattern, and future prospects.
In total, 188 students and 10 faculty members attended the program. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. K. Sree Lakshmi, Asst Professor, CSE, appreciating the efforts of the department in arranging such informative programs for career building.
