Gaiety and grandeur marked the pre-pogal celebrations at GIST.A number of events were conducted on the occasion such as Rangoli competition, Musical chairs, Traditional dress contest and UTTI programme for the students by the N.S.S unit of the college. The college building was tastefully decorated and the spirit of the festival was all pervasive. ‘GOBBEMMAS’ were made and ‘sweet porridge’ was prepared and distributed to the students, H.O.D’s and faculty. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. G. Subba Rao, principal, said that, Sankranthi festivities would bring about awareness about our glorious Telugu culture and tradition among the students. Mr. N. Sudhakar Reddy, secretary and correspondent extended his PONGAL greetings to all. Mr. D. V. V. S. Phani Kumar, Director, Mr. M. Mahesh Kumar, N.S.S programme officer, HOD’s faculty and students were took part in the event.
