A National Conference on “Emerging Trends in Electronics and Communication Engineering” was held in style and grandeur at Geethanjali Engineering College, Nellore on 20th April, 2013 under the auspices of Research and Development Division of the College.

Prof. Soundara Rajan, Officer on Special Duty to Vice Chancellor, JNTU, Anantapur, Prof. Varadarajan, SVU, Tirupati and Prof. Malleswari, GNIST, Hyderabad were the special guests on the occasion.

Prof. G. Subba Rao, Principal of the College presided over the proceedings of the programme. In his inaugural speech, he spoke on the role and importance of electronics through its integration in every field of activity. Social development is possible only through front line research and conferences like these assist inspiring and enhancing research, he professed.

In his brief message, Mr. N. Sudhakar Reddy Secretary and Correspondent of the college exhorted that Geethanjali Institute of Science and Technology is unique and towers over the other Institutions in its focus and development of Research. He assured that the management is ever ready to support any creative research in the college and assist conferences like this.

In his keynote address, Prof Soundara Rajan, the chief guest insisted on the need for concentrating on research extensively both by the students and faculty. He cited Image Processing, Low power VLSI and Mobile Applications as trending topics in the current day research and invited the delegates to further the research in these much-in-focus areas.

Prof. Varadarajan suggested that several National and International Organizations are encouraging front line research. By enrolling themselves in such Institutions, students, scholars and members of faculty can utilize the available resources for their research activities.

Prof. Malleswari, in her address, highlighted the importance of Literature survey and the various procedures to be followed in preparing for research.

Short listed forty delegates from among the several papers received from all over the country, have presented papers in the conference. Ms. Mohanamma and Mr. Gopinath won the first place for their paper on “LUT for Memory Based Computation” while Ms. Prashanthi and Ms. Lalitha Kumari stood second for their presentation on “Compressed Sensing Image Reconstruction”.

Prof. Kameswari, HOD, Research and Development Division, Prof. Raghava Reddy, HOD, ECE Department, Prof. Sanjay Dola, Senior Professor, Department of ECE and Prof. Jahnavi, CSE Department, participated in the programme.

Students, scholars, members of faculty and other guests attending the conference appreciated the utility of the observations and suggestions given by the guests of the day.
