Report on “Meditation for Girl Students”

The “Internal Complaint Committeeof Geethanjali institute of science and technology organised a programme on meditation for girl students in the college premises. All effort was made to spread awareness about the benefits of meditation in life. According to the National Institutes of Health, meditation is believed to work on stress by “reducing activity in the sympathetic nervous system”, which is colloquially known as the “fight or flight” system, and “increasing activity in the parasympathetic nervous system”, which is associated with times of rest.“We have taken this initiative to raise awareness about meditation.

The speaker and trainer Mr. S. Srinivasarao told that meditation forces you to work on your concentration. It takes strength of will to clear out the mental clutter and allow oneself to concentrate on nothing but the present, something meditation trains you to do by nature .Prof Dr. G. Subbarao principal, said that Meditation may help increase overall emotional well-being. Although, again, these claims are not yet backed by concrete studies, meditation is thought by many to help improve creativity, happiness, and peace of mind, all of which are important facets of one’s emotional health.
