Legal Rights For Women

Internal Complaint Committee (WPC) of Geethanjali Institute of Science & Technology has ear-marked certain exclusive programmes for Women to create a general awareness among them regarding their rights, roles and responsibilities. In this context the focus was on “Legal Rights for Women” in the function held on 14th & 15th October 2017.

Prof. G. Subbarao, Principal, GIST, Chief Guest discussed the various rights provided for women by law of the nation. He told that the civil law offers women better marital property rights. Women are recognized for the unpaid work that they perform in their households offered the right to joint ownership of all property under marriage, and also offered explicit protection.  Dr. Y. Jahnavi and Mrs. K. Vijaya, HOD’s, CSE and S & H Department respectively, have discussed several issues pertaining to the legal rights of the women with the girl students creating a general sense of awareness among them. Several literary competitions were held on the occasion and prizes were distributed to the winners.
