A Three Day Hands On Workshop
On
“Embedded Systems(IOT) Advanced” at GIST
A three day workshopon Embedded Systems was organizedby the department of ECE, from02ndto04th February 2018in collaboration withAPSSDC.The experts from APSSDC explained various concepts of Embedded System related aspects right from the fundamentals to advanced (IOT)for IIIyear B.Tech ECE students.
The workshop started with a presentation on Embedded Systems (IoT) Advancedand its related fields where opportunities are abundant in the industry. The presentation clearly explained what skills are required to become an embedded designer or engineer. The entire workshop covers embedded systems and the Raspberry Pi Platform for building devices that can control the physical world.
The workshop resource persons initially focused on importance of IoT in society, the current components of typical IoT devices and trends for the future. IoT design considerations, constraints and interfacing between the physical world and your device will also be covered and also cover how to make design trade-offs between hardware and software, key components of networking to ensure that students understand how to connect their device to the Internet. Meanwhile the queries raised by the students were also answered in an efficient way in all the sessions by the resource persons.
The workshop participants were able to successfully code and run their programs dynamically on hardware with ease aftercompletion of the main sessions of the first module. In detailed demonstrations were given on various sensors and LCD interfacing techniques. The workshop turned out to be a major successful event, imparting lot of knowledge about embedded system and how to work with various microcontrollers.
The Principal of GIST, Prof. Dr. G. SubbaRao, in the inaugural address also mentioned the demand of Embedded Engineers in the related fields of Electronics and IoTs. The head of the department of ECE, Mr.P.Raghava Reddy, Mr.K.Prabhakar Reddy,Asst. Professorand faculty members of ECE also took part in the workshop actively.
