A Guest Lecture on Image Processing for Radio Sensing Applications

A guest lecture was organized by the department of ECE, on 12th August 2017 by Dr. Surekha Borra. She introduced and elaborated about the Remote Sensing Applications based on Image Processing for III year B.Tech ECE students.

Dr. Surekha Borra, a full time professor of ECE department, KSIT, Bangalore, has 11 years of teaching experience. She has one Indian patent, 143 citations in google scholar, 25 published research papers and 4 book chapters to her name. She has achieved “Women Achievers” Award from the Institution of Engineers, Karnataka.

The Resource person Dr. Surekha Borra, interacted with the students and faculty and threw much light on the applications of Remote Sensing in various fields. She also explained in detail about various methods in which image processing is applicable to the selected field of interest. The introductory aspects focused on how one should analyze a satellite image for proper identification of the content in it. The lecture went on progressively, students interacted at will and the queries were most effectively answered by the visitor.

Dr.  G. Subba Rao, the principal of GIST addressed at the start gave a message that the institution is frequently conducting various guest lectures, workshops, webinars, etc. for the benefit of both students as well as faculty and enlighten them with updated trends in various domains related to the fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Mr.SK.Mahaboob Basha, H.O.D, R&D, Mr. P. Raghava Reddy, H.O.D, ECE, Mr. K.Prabhakar Reddy, co-ordinator of the guest lecture, faculty and students participated and made it a highly useful and productive one.
