A Report on One Week Workshop on “Internet of Things for Electrical Engineering”

One week Workshop on “Internet of Things for Electrical Engineers” was organised by the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering from 18.10.2019 to 24.10.2019.The inauguration of the Programme started 10.00 AM at Digi Hall with the welcome address by Dr.P.Vinoth Kumar, Associate Professor/EEE.Dr.G.SubbaRao, Principal, GIST addressed the gathering with the present IoT role in world and its future requirements. The resource person, Mr.Suresh, Proprietor, SKARDUINO Labs, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu interacted the students about IoT and Arduino.

The First day of the workshop started with the Basics of IoT, Arduino, WIFI module and basic programming. Following on second day different experiments were performed as hands on training with NODEMUC ESP8266 which is enabled the WIFI module. The LEDS, diodes,buzzer,switches,LDR sensor,resistor,relays,regulators,liquid crystal display are provided to conduct the practical operation. At the Second day the programming for the blinking of LED and sounding ofBuzzer was done by connecting them in bread board.Third day Street light connection is done with the simple programming. Alsocontrolling of the LEDS by the switches is performed with simple Arduino programming.Fourth day BLYNK, IFFTT applications and Ardafruit software was learnt by the participant’s .The software is linked with the mobile and experiments were performed for the home automation using WIFI and Hotspot enabled in mobile. Fifth day the commands were given to the Google assist for controlling the home appliances through mobile made the session innovation. At last day programming was done to connect the LCD and the students learnt to display the contents. At the afternoon session on last day students interacted the trainer regarding ideas for their futureprojects. The workshop ended with the valedictory and certificates were distributed.Dr.T.Ravi Kumar,Associate Professor/EEE and Dr.P.Vinoth Kumar, Associate Professor/EEE acted as the convenor for the workshop and coordinated
