Stating that poems are above the inventions of scientists, noted poet M Venkat urged budding poets to pen poems on contemporary issues to differentiate good and bad in the present day digital society.
On Tuesday, Venkat attended as chief guest to a meeting conducted at NG College on the occasion of World Poetry Day by College Telugu department in Nalgonda. Addressing the gathering, he said true poet spends his life for writing worthwhile poems, and good poems come from the lifestyles of common man. He advised students make habit of reading books to acquire knowledge and diction.
On the occasion, he read the poem, Gangamma, penned by him. NG College Principal Nagender Reddy presided over the meeting and lecturers Dr Rahathkanam, Narsimha, Salim, Prabhakar, Vasanthakumari, Deepika, Rajababu and others participated.
The World Poetry Day was celebrated on 21 March 2017 across the globe. The objective behind the day is to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression as well as to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their societies.
