Report on Smart India Hackathon 2025
The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 is a nationwide initiative aimed at providing students with a platform to solve some of the most pressing challenges faced in daily life. It nurtures a culture of product innovation and fosters a problem-solving mindset among young innovators. The previous edition witnessed the participation of over 5 million students from engineering institutions across the country, competing at more than 35 locations.
In SIH 2024, students also had the unique opportunity to address real-time challenges from private sector organizations, designing world-class solutions for leading global companies. This not only helped industries access innovative ideas but also enabled them to identify and recruit the best talent across the nation.
From GIST, a total of 240 students participated enthusiastically in SIH 2025, representing different departments:
- 108 students from CSE
- 18 students from ECE
- 12 students from AIML
- 12 students from CS (Cyber Security)
- 6 students from EEE
- 84 students from AIDS
These students worked on problem statements across diverse domains such as MedTech, Smart Automation, Cyber Security, and Disaster Management. For instance, some teams developed applications capable of calculating blood pressure, stress levels, and other body vitals using smartphones, while others proposed innovative ideas for risk management and disaster preparedness. Such initiatives highlight their commitment to creating impactful solutions that strengthen India’s core sectors.
We take immense pride in acknowledging and appreciating the 240 students (40 teams) of GIST for their active and meaningful participation in SIH 2025, showcasing innovation, teamwork, and dedication.
