International Women’s Day Celebrations – 2024 were organised at GIST on 8th March (Friday) under the auspices of the institution’s Women’s Protection Cell with grandeur and much fanfare.
In connection with the event a Cookery show, Poster presentation, Essay Writing, Rangoli competition and Mehandi contests were conducted for girl students at the campus. The programme was conducted involving all sections of 1stB.Tech girl students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.K.Sundeep Kumar, Principal said that women of the modern era were surpassing men in almost all fields and making their mark in every sphere of human activity. He added that the attitude of men should undergo a positive transformation to give better treatment to women.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Mr. N. Sudhakar Reddy, secretary said that although many laws and legislations are being enforced for Women Empowerment. Still Indian women have a long way to go in asserting themselves in this male domination world.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. G. Subbarao, Director said that modern progressive thinkers such as Karl Marx, Frederic Engels have espoused the cause of women and raised their voice against the bondage and subjugation of women posing the way for women empowerment in several countries across the world. The architects of Indian Constitution had a great vision in ensuring the establishment of an egalitarian society where women enjoy equal rights at par with men. Afterwards the prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitive events held in connection with the programme.
Dr. K. Vijaya, Convenor of Women Protection Cell, Dr. P. Kumar Babu, HOD, Mechanical engineering dept, various H.O.D’s and Faculty were present on the occasion.
