A Report On Industrial Visit To Mettur Dam ,Trichy Region, Pudukottai Road, Subramaniapuram, Tiruchirappalli
The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Field Visit for the IV B.Tech Students of Mechanical Engineering from 16-09-2024 to 21-09-2024. The Students were taken to “Mettur Dam, Trichy Region, Pudukottai Road, Subramaniapuram, Tiruchirappalli” which is Dam Construction in Tiruchirappalli. In this Field Visit 8 students attained the knowledge.
A visit to Mettur Dam provides Mechanical Engineering students with insights into civil engineering and hydroelectric power generation, covering aspects like the dam’s structure, reservoir management, spillway mechanisms, and the functioning of its associated power generation plant. Key learning points include the design of large gravity dams, hydraulic principles behind spillway gate operations for flood control, the mechanics of turbine and generator systems, and overall water resource management in a large-scale engineering project
The interactive session turned out to be extremely beneficial to the learners, as it provided them with a worthy learning experience, which will definitely stand them in good stead in their effort to expand the horizons of their technical proficiency.
