A three day IEEE workshop was organized from 19/9/2015 to 21/9/2015 on “Antenna Design & Simulation with HFSS Software” by GIST in association with MTT/AP/EMC Society Joint Chapter IEEE Hyderabad Section and ANSYS Software & Entuple Technologies Bangalore as a part of GIST IEEE Student Branch in Digital Hall. The distinguished dignitaries Dr. M. Lakshmi Narayana, Vice-Chairman IEEE Hyderabad Section, Dr. Srinivas Nukala, Chairman, MMT Society, Hyderabad, Dr. N.V.S.N. Sharma Prof Dept of ECE, NIT Warangal, Mr.  Vasanth R.D Senior Application Engineer, ANSYS Bangalore, Mr. Kane Jacob Senior Application Engineer, Entuple Technologies Bangalore.

Sri Dr. G. Subba Rao, Principal, GIST Nellore and Sri N. Sudhakar Reddy, Secretary & Correspondent lighted the ceremonial lamp and formally launched the workshop. On the first day of the workshop, Dr. M. Lakshmi Naryana Gave an Enlightening lecture on the subject “Re-Configurable Antennas” while Dr. N.V.S.N Sharma gave a lecture on “Fractural Antennas & FDTD Simulations”. As the concluding part of the first day workshop an illuminations lecture was given by Dr. Nukala Srinivas Rao on “metamaterials and applications of antennas”. All the lectures were well received by the participants of the workshop. The vote of thanks was approved by Mr. K. Naveen, Asst. Prof, on the second day of the workshop the industrial experts Mr. Vasanth R.D. form ANSYS, Bangalore and Kane Jacob form Entuple Technologies Bangalore, held hands on sessions and gave a detailing on the parameters of an antenna and the key role played by the HFSS tool in designing an antenna and explained the process of simulating an antenna.

They engaged the participants in working and designing different kinds of antennas and demonstrated on how to position the antenna in the boxes. The experts also exhaustively touched upon the subjects of EMC and EMI and elaborated on the process of testing the equipment that emits radiations and also measure the extent and intensity of radiation emissions.

On the third day the workshop came to a conclusion, with all the participants getting familiar to the equipment and HFSS tool and designing antennas for a specific purpose. The workshop proved to be a wonderful platform for participants where they obtained ample exposure and familiarity to the designing of antennas; and facilitated a creative interactions with experts.
