A three-day workshop on “ TRAINING OF TEACHERS “ was held at GIST from 21 June to 23 June 2016 under the auspices of Research and Development Department. The event was Inaugurated by the Secretary and Correspondent Mr. N. Sudhakar Reddy, Principal Dr. G. Subba Rao, Resource Person Dr. Prof. G.B.Jaiprakash Narain, Convenor of FDP Prof. G. Kameswari, Prof. G. Satish Paul, Prof V. Venkaiah, All the Heads of the Departments and Faculty Members.

Participating in the workshop as the resource person, Dr. Prof. G.B.Jaiprakash Narain, Former Director NITTTR and Centre for Environmental Studies, Anna University, Chennai insisted that the primary objective of engineering education is the generation of wealth and social advancement. He strongly urged to cultivate positive mindset, out of the box thinking to attain great heights of professional eminence. An engineering faculty is expected to foster intellectual excitement and curiosity in the learners to make them aware of various emerging trends and developments in modern technology. He added that spirit of dedication and sense of commitment play a key role in achieving progress.

On the first day of the workshop, he focused that attitude, discipline and commitment are needed to achieve the aim of engineering education. We can become superior citizens by inculcating cognitive, emotional, moral and social intelligences.

Stressed on “MILY”- Most Important Learning Yesterday

Teachers have to operate in a system based on four components:

  • Camp-fire- Informational space
  • Watering hole- Conversational Space
  • Cave- Conceptual Space
  • Life- Contextual Space

Human Value in Education, Value Education- in which process of learning involves intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

Day -2

The Teacher in you– “Small things lead to perfection but perfection is not small”

By identifying competencies and by inculcating discipline, attitude, punctuality and attendance, A Teacher can be changed to THE Teacher.

Teaching is most difficult adventure which involves Understand the past, Interpret the present and Decode the future.

Micro Teaching- A Process of training teachers to develop a specific teaching skill of a teacher. This is never an Instructional method. Normal teaching takes 1 Hour but Micro Teaching is for 10 Minutes only. To implement micro teaching methodology 15 Faculty members were selected from all the disciplines to present their lectures on Day-3.

Day -3

The selected Faculty members presented their lectures by following the perspectives and parameters of micro-teaching. The evaluation was done by the speaker, the principal, Senior Prof. Satish Paul Sir and the corresponding HOD. The evaluators had given their valuable suggestions helpful for the improvement of Teacher.
