The National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning(NPTEL) was initiated by seven IIT’S along with IISC,Bangalore is a program under ministry of Human resources development ,GOVT .Of India Initiated in 2003 for the creation of web and video courses in various disciplines of engineering ,basic sciences ,management and humanities.
Nearly 932 courses are available on the web portal http://nptel.ac.in .Even it has initiated certifications for Semester courses and courses based on Massive open online courses(MOOC) model.
The main objective of NPTEL is to enable students to obtain certificates from the courses is to help the students employable in the industry and pursue higher education.
GIST as NPTEL Study Center:
- Geethanjali institute of science and technology hosted as NPTEL study center with vision of encouraging students to get certified through online courses offered through NPTEL.
- To interact with NPTEL DR.Y.Jahnavi., Professor and Head of CSE as appointed as single point of contact(SPOC) .
- 4TB of Hard disk has received from IIT,Madras with 430 video course contents.
- Out of 932 video lectures nearly 300 video lectures are maintained in digital library for the ease access of students.
- 200 students have registered for the NPTEL online web courses.
